What happened during the week?
Monday
Attended a meetup with Kyle to game developers meeting Brisbane. In this meeting the developer create a startup simulator that involved getting funds and was almost like a base building simulator. He went through a post mortem of the game since he was going to launch it on Steam.
Tuesday
During class today we were treated to a presentation by Select Audio and then we discussed our current project progress in front of the whole class.
Wednesday
Thursday
Whole day tracking Elska the Harp player. It was interesting to see the application of all of the microphones and also using the legendary U87 for vocals. It was interesting to see the way the take was tracked by an experienced engineer like Guy Cooper from Sentonin records. Being extremely fluent in ProTools was what I noticed and that he was able to quickly respond to Elskas suggestions in capturing her Harp and the foot pedal she uses to loop samples.
The issue with foot pedal sounds is that they are like several instruments in one and it would nice if we could actually get separate tones from the pedal to be separately recorded into the session as a separate track. The only issue we saw was that the pedal had only one output and it combined all of the samples into one take. The levels was also not in the control of the recording engineers hands and required cutting and required post editing to extra the separate looped samples that Elska made on the fly.
Took a break from work experience to work on some blogs.

Do any of the events or learning material relate to my profession?
Is there an academic or scientific explanation and what are the lessons learned?
If given the chance how would I respond or approach this week?
